Curriculum Map with Focus on LIS

By looking through the AASL Standards first, I was able to think about the types of activities which would support students' learning. I was able to consider possible lessons, activities, and collaborations which would allow students opportunities to master their skills. Then, I was able to brainstorm possible technology tools I could integrate to help them accomplish the tasks. In using this technology curriculum map, I was able to consider student learning first. It was also helpful to see how the content standards aligned with the ISTE standards which allowed me to center the learning between the standards.

As a librarian, you really have your finger on the pulse of how students begin their learning adventures. It will be very helpful for them to have someone in charge of that process that is so professionally organized like yourself. This presentation clearly shows you have a great direction for guiding student learning in your building.

I really liked the visual you did for your map, it looks really good! I like how you were able to identify different pieces of technology for the different lessons students might do in the library. I think people don't always realize the extent to how different one activity can be from the next when it comes to the IMC. Being able to have an idea of what you would use in each situation certainly makes it a lot easier to plan for what your teachers might need.

Your color coding and how you organized this was so helpful! It also has me thinking about how I can utilize both my librarian and our library media center as a whole to incorporate this into my classroom, as well.

I hope you can find ways to partner with your librarian to use some of the tools. When using new technology sometimes it is nice to have another person there to help with troubleshooting too. I’d love to see what kinds of projects you create and collaborate on in the future!

Amy, I like how your technology practice provide your students so many different types of assignments with the technology. Students having the ability to collaborate with one another technology and incorporate reflection is such great practice for creating lifelong learners. Your students also having the opportunity to analyze online work and learn from and create individual work all with technology is very different. Each task seems valuable and interactive for them.
