Curriculum Map: Kindergarten Mathematics

Intially I was a bit overwhelmed with this challenge. My comfort zone is the intermediate grades and I am very familiar with the standards for fifth grade after teaching them for the past six years. However, I did not think it would be very beneficial for me to create a curriculum map for a grade I will no longer teach. Most of the students on my caseload next year will either be in kindergarten or working at a kindergarten level, so I chose to focus on unpacking some of the kindergarten mathematics standards. I really enjoyed this activity once I got into it and I looking forward to utilizing it next year.

Mary, This is great! I love how you were honest about your comfort zone and thinking outside the box. Now doing this may really help and benefit your planning as you move forward. Using the manipulative may not be a "technology", you are giving your students the foundation and help to interact and visualize the learning.

That is great you are able to utilize this for your kids next year! These are great ways to incorporate technology into your curriculum. It is very easy to read across your map and see your ideas. Like Tyler said below, I have never looked at these standards before and never realized just how specific they were.

I have only looked at music standards for years, so seeing standards from a different subject was quite cool! I feel like standards for math are quite specific, with music I feel like our standards are very open for interpretation (they also tend to not be great..)
