Here is my final version of my Technology Plan, which I have designed to be rolled out in my Music Theory class. I received some very good feedback from my classmates, and it was fun to put this final presentation together in Canva, which I used because I wanted to explore the many features it offered outside of simple infographics. I can see why it is so popular; there's so much you can do with it!
Update as of 7/8/21 - A detailed plan of the TIP Model can be seen by clicking on the Map at the bottom of Page 3.
My only fear in trying out gamification is that students will miss the "forest for the trees," and get so caught up in the game-world that they don't connect it to the content of the class. If I am to go all-in on this, I will definitely rely on contacts within my PLN for advice.
All of the required information to complete this Challenge should be found in the presentation; if I am missing anything, please let me know.
This was a good piece of software to focus on: it really does stimulate student engagement and get them to participate more in the classroom. I think gamifying the classroom really helps to motivate some students that would not be interested and is a skill more teachers should focus on!
David, I found this in my research for some technology tools to use this week as well. I wasnt brave enough to go down that route, I am glad that you are and I think you have a really great plan and mindset to make it effective, the students will love it!
Whoa! This is cool. Gamification is such a positive teaching strategy. Good luck with your idea! I think the students will love it.
This is awesome David. I 100% agree that learning by playing is one of the best strategies. I have heard of ClassCraft but have never done much exploring with it. Your presentation makes me want to dive in as well and implement it. Your concern about students being "too" into it is definitely valid. It will be a learning curve at first maybe for them but will be a great tool!
Really nice plans and presentation, David! I think that you've set yourself up for success. Knowing your own limits and not diving in too soon is a great choice. You also state that you'll go into this and maintain communication with your PLN and keep a running field log. It looks like you'll have some great success and your students will love this!
