Reflection:
I have never used this kind of technology in my music classroom before. I am looking to incorporate technology in a new way; to help students describe how understanding context and the elements of music inform the response to music. This kind of disciplinary thinking may be foreign to my students. I created resources and templates that guide students disciplinary thinking.
Another focus of my technology integration plan was to use different types of technology. I did not want to use technology that I used in my other assignments for this course. I wanted to use a variety of technology throughout the class so that my students would be able to experience and interact with technology that encompasses the following:
TIP approach
disciplinary technology
my equity & accessibility vision
Illinois State Standards of Music
Doing - The technology covered in this unit plan allows music students to organize, categorize, develop, and portray their response to music,
Meaning - Students can utilize this technology to portray their feelings in new and exciting ways.
Relation - The students' infographics and maps can be shared with other students in the class, creating a communicative classroom and a place to share ideas.
Thinking - The technology assists students in thinking in creative, expressive, and descriptive ways.
Being - This technology gives students a platform to speak their mind, share their feelings and response to music, and be expressive.
Julie, you always make the most visually appealing presentations! They make me want to be in your class just so I can participate. Your project is very well thought out and really integrates technology well using the TIP model. The day by day instructions are very clear and concise as well. Great job!
