Week 4 Find 1:
In searching for a multimedia tool for a project, I wanted to research Adobe Spark. This led me to follow Adobe Creative Cloud and I also saw Adobe for Education will have a FREE virtual PD opportunity at the end of July. I thought this would be a good chance to learn more about the software and see how the tools could be used in education to share creations and collaborate.
Week 4 Find 2:
One of the tools used at school in the Engineering Department is AWS. As I went to follow AWS Education on Twitter, I saw a recent post about how @IllinoisStateU is using AWS and found an on-demand presentation about how ISU implement the tool. I thought it was interesting as it ties several themes of this course together about the skills students learn across disciplines and how the tools are used by experts in the field.
Week 4 Find 3:
For the software analysis challenge, I evaluated Zotero. However, as of now, ISU has not approved it to meet SOPPA requirements. So, I was researching the platform to learn more about how it works and looking for other options for students to use. In the process, I found some information about ZoteroBib and wanted to know how it compared with Zotero. I still need to check and see if students have to create an account or if it can be used without signing in, but by following threads on Twitter I was able to learn a little more about how the tools compare.
Week 4 Find 4:
My find 4 was an #edchat article about grading practices. It made me think about how the badge system has been used for this course. I like the aspect of students being able to revise their work and the idea of working towards mastery.
Week 4 Find 5:
My final find for the week was about various online programs and certifications. I thought it was interesting to see various online classes about world languages, analyzing information, AI in medicine, and GIS and data science. As we have learned about integrating various technologies to help students build multimodal skills, these higher ed courses would be the bridge between the K12 setting and the discipline experts operating in the field.
