Week 3 #F5F #TCH432

Week 3 Find 1:

This week I have been following #ISTELive to see what resources and technology ideas emerge. There have been several great resources. One tweet I wanted to save was one about various ways to use Wakelet in the classroom. It lists several different ideas for how to integrate and use Wakelet as a tool for creating, collecting, and organizing resources.

Week 3 Find 2:

Over the last few weeks, I have been seeing several discussions about AI in Education. This tweet provided some background on the implications for education, but I will still need to follow this discussion to learn more.

Week 3 Find 3:

After seeing how the expert in my field used story maps for publishing research, I started searching for digital mapping tools and story maps that had a potential to be integrated into K-12 education. The best tool I came across was Sutori. It looks like a great platform for building collaborative timelines and presenting multimedia resources. I want to explore more about this tool and find ways I can use it in the curriculum to help students create and share meaning in new ways.

Week 3 Find 4:

I thought the following two articles from edutopia fit well with the ideas I have recently been exploring. One article was called “What to Say Instead of I’m Proud of You” provided examples of ways we can engage students in conversing about their accomplishments beyond just saying we are proud of them. In this way, educators can embed SEL into daily conversations with students and support their well being.

As I kept looking through the articles from edutopia, I happened across an article about “Different Ways of Looking at How to Use Edtech” which just happed to be about using TPACK and SAMR. It fit well with the video for Challenge #5 and how educators can answer questions about content knowledge, pedagogy, and technical knowledge to integrate technology resource into the classroom.

Week 3 Find 5:

My fifth exploration was learning more about the IDEAlab at UIUC. I had considered touring the IDEAlab space for my expert tour but was unable to visit due to limits on visitors. However, this week the director shared several presentations about the resources they have available and links to further information about how they support technology integration for the various disciplines. It was interesting to read more about how the lab supports engineers in using VR and 3D printing for research on campus and have created interactive and collaborative spaces for presentations and research initiatives.
