My "Five Finds" - Week 3
Find #1
I found this online community for band directors! This group looks to provide resources to promote inclusion and programming music from a diverse group of composers.
Find #2
Soundtrap offered an ISTE Live session on Project-Based Learning design through the use of podcasting and music-making! Unfortunately I was not able to attend the event but I am interested in catching a recording of the event to learn more about this.
Find #3
I started following Smart Music on Twitter. This is a program I use with my students. It is the most interact performance tool I've ever used with students.
Find #4
Sight Reading Builder - I found this cool NEW sight reading challenge tool through Smart Music that I didn't know existed! I was able to check it out and it looks super useful for me and my students! I am always looking for ways to improve student sight reading skills AND this tool can be used by students on their own time.
Find #5
My students have school-issued Chromebooks. Chromebooks do not allow students to use most Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) Software. Therefore, I went looking for a web-based DAW and found BandLab.
Summary: This week I intentionally looked for finds that would help fill in holes in my teaching. I searched for technology tools, professional groups, and educational events that would help me make improvements in specific areas of my teaching that I am insecure about or have not found enough resources for in the past.
