Find #1: I started following @WNIJNews because it is the Northern Public Radio. I didn't know this was even a thing. They have a Teacher's Lounge section where educators are interviewed by the Host Peter Medlin which they express their challenges and stories as teachers. These teachers are nominated. In this interview, he talked to Scott Wickman who used to be a Spanish teacher and professor. Not only that, but he has had many other roles. Something that stood out was when he talked about one of his former Spanish students. He explained that his former student commented on the use of music in Spanish. He stated that music has been used to learn a language. It made me think of challenge 4 because I used Lirica, an app that uses music to learn languages. I also really enjoyed that he mentions that teachers need to take students' strengths and what they do well in order to implement them into what they are teaching.
Find #2: I remember how nervous, anxious and excited I felt that summer. I had a lot of questions I wanted to ask my supervisor, but I was so nervous to email her because I didn't want to bother her. I wish I had emailed her in order to be better prepared for that first year. I would have been less stressed out that summer and would have been more positive with myself. I keep doubting myself because I felt that my students would think I wasn't a good teacher and they would drop the class. I later learned my coworkers felt the same way I did their first semester of teaching. I am so grateful for the coworker I had and the support that they gave me throughout my teaching.
Find #3: I found this meme and it made me laugh so much. It definitely confuses students but after a lot of practice, they are able to understand the differences. I remember in my classroom, we did a lot of activities and demonstrations. I was always willing to go over them as much as students needed me to.
Find #4: I saw this and I had to retweet it. I wish I was taught how to write learning objectives through these steps. I have struggled to write learning objectives but seeing this I can understand what to include and how to write them. I also had not viewed learning objectives as crucial as she states they are. Yet, she is right. Without any learning objectives than students would not be able to participate.
Find #5: I saw this on Twitter and I had to share because I struggle to say no to my family members and friends. It makes me feel guilty if I have to say no to helping them with a family event. But, what I really hate about not being able to say no, is over-explaining myself. I do not need to over-explain myself to anyone on the decisions I take or the reasons I do not want to do something. I need to set boundaries in order to be the person I want to become. As she mentions, I need to say "yes" to the things that really do matter in my life.
