New platform!
Challenge 2 asked us to dive deeper into one of the softwares we use in our classrooms. Mary created her infographic on Edpuzzle and I think I want to try it out in my classroom this year! My coteacher and I do one section of a flipped classroom and I believe it would work beautifully for that class! Thanks Mary!
Desmos.com now has a curriculum available.
I am not sure on how good it is, however, I discussed Desmos in Challenge 2 and discovered this new aspect! I think it is pretty cool that they are continuing to grow!
STEM Prosthetics Challenge
This year I have students enrolled in STEM 2!!!! YAY!!! We work on coding and 3D design in STEM 1 so I am looking into the e-NABLE prosthetic hand STEM challenge for my kids! It is pretty awesome. If you have time, take a look at it! Amputations and prosthetics are two things I had to learn about early on in my life becuase of my grandma so it is close to home! My goal is for my students to create a functional, 3D printed prosthetic hand for someone to have. Any one have any ideas? Wish me luck!
New Mathematics Curriculum
My department is looking into new mathematics curriculum this year. We thought we settled on the HMH Into Math Series A1-G-A2, however, we are also looking into the McGraw Hill Illustrative Math A1-G-A2 Series. I have heard mixed feelings on the HMH and would like to know if anyone has any feedback on either of those! I love the interactiveness and all of the things the HMH has to offer.
Looking for a book for the mathematics teacher
I am an avid reader and I have decided I want to try to read a book that will help in my classroom. I want it to be centered on mathematics, whether it is connecting the world to the classroom or it has to do with mathematical practices. I am always eager to learn more and grow my classroom. Any suggestions are welcome! I think I have found one though: Taking Action: Implementing Effective Mathematics Teaching Practices. If you have read it, let me know what you think!
