This week I took more time to familiarize myself with Twitter. I catch myself revisiting it more frequently and search for ideas and articles to enhance my classroom and help my lesson delivery.
Some highlights from my week were good ideas to implement into my classroom. One was an article about participation written from the point of view of a novice teacher. When I found the article I was intrigued to read it because I find a participation grade hard to assess and be purposeful for students. The article shared some great insight with unique phrases to use to engage students and make participation purposeful.
Another good find was a tweet for a “quick check” for understanding. This was used for a math check for understanding, but I began to think I could use it easily in my classroom with my own students. It’s simple and can be changed according to any lesson or content from the day.
Other findings were an event for engaging students using a PBL curriculum, which I thought was fitting for the week. I also discovered a live chat about meeting students’ needs and reevaluating school systems in the times we are in today.
This week on Twitter was enlightening as I shared some finds with my department and which created some great dialogue and ideas for this upcoming semester. I also had the opportunity to try out a new technology, Powtoon and then share it on Twitter.
