Above is a draft of my Technology Integration Plan. I want my students to speak Spanish as many create their own barriers of doing so, lack of confidence, lack of pronunciation etc. With this specific plan I take you through a unit so you have a better understanding of where this speaking practice (output) happens in any unit. My idea is to create a "speaking portfolio" to give students an opportunity to give output of the Spanish language in a more private setting and allow myself to listen to each individual and provide feedback. This is done frequently in many units as an end goal, using a portfolio will also keep students accountable and consistent in their output and learning.
Thanks for checking out my plan and the feedback you are providing. Some feedback I am interested in hearing is:
Do you think by incorporating a "speaking portfolio" this will engage my students and/or create the consistency of speaking the Spanish language?
I like engaging my students in multiple ways to help the differentiated learner, do you think a unit such as this is providing mindful activities?
I think a "speaking portfolio" is so valuable for students. Speaking and listening are the two hardest parts of language (for me) and yet the most valuable in the real world. I left high school Spanish classes feeling pretty confident in my Spanish skills, but very quickly realized when traveling that if it wasn't writing or reading, I really struggled.
I also think you have incorporated several valuable things to keep your students engaged.
I don't know much about it, but at a former school, our global language department used VoiceThread and loved it. FlipGrid is great and might perfectly fit your needs, but if you haven't looked at VoiceThread, you should see if it has additional tools that FlipGrid…
Hi Monica,
I absolutely think it will help engage your students. I think it's a wonderful idea and can really apply more meaning to learning Spanish. Students being able to listen back to what they are saying and the pronunciation can be a great reflection for them. Coupled with your feedback I think it is an awesome idea. It would be neat to look back on it at the end of the semester/year and see just how much the students have grown. I'm sure they would be surprised! In this project I think you are using great activities to keep students engaged and are very mindful. One thing that came to mind was a podcast using Voice Memos where students…
