Hi everyone, my name is Amy Brokaw. This is my 13th year in education. This was my 2nd year as the librarian for University High School in Normal, IL. Previously, I was the K-12 district librarian for Payson CUSD 1 in Payson, IL for 8 years and the K-12 district librarian for Blue Ridge CUSD 18 in Farmer City, IL for 3 years.
In undergrad, I studied history, secondary education at UIUC. Then, I earned my masters in LIS from UIUC’s GSLIS, and, in the spring of 2020, I finished my CAS. I am currently working towards a technology specialist endorsement. I took TCH 401 this spring, and I am taking TCH 432 to work towards earning the final three credit hours for the endorsement.
Some of my favorite things include reading, learning, collaborating, and finding new ways to use technology. I also enjoy finding new trails to trek with my Great Pyrenees, Annabelle, and letting her run on the family farm. I love traveling to new places, have had the chance to travel to 4 continents, and am currently dreaming up the next adventure. I believe this class is a great opportunity to learn best practices in integrating technology, and I am looking forward to learning with everyone.
Annabelle is beautiful! Glad to hear you made your way into the library...that was one of the paths I considered back in the day--in fact, some days, I tell people I'm going to get another degree in library science because I love libraries so much. My husband isn't keen on more degrees :)
