DETOURNEMENT (day-tour-nuh-mah) derives from France and means “to reroute or hijack.” In many examples, detournement offers a means to disrupt an existing narrative that might be constructed in the media to create a new message.

For Next Class
Open Book
To Read
  1. Spend some time exploring the Media Bias Chart.

Doing Homework
To Do
  1. Use feedback from your mentor to revise your literature circle unit guide. This is due in your portfolio by Sunday, March 20 at 11:59pm.

  2. Begin thinking about your détournement. What messages do you want to hijack? What messages do you think characters in your book want to hijack? What would be a good popular culture text that can help you convey your ideas?

  3. If you haven't already, acquire Find Layla. We will begin reading it next week.
